Yesterday it was reported that the NBA would kick off Christmas Day, their marquee regular season day, with the New Orleans Pelicans and their young superstar Anthony Davis visiting Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat in South Beach.

This afternoon another Christmas Day contest from the tentative schedule leaked, and it happens to be a rematch of the 2015 NBA Finals.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers will be visiting the defending champion Golden State Warriors and their sharpshooting star Stephen Curry according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com.

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are tentatively scheduled to visit Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the league plans to feature an NBA Finals rematch as a headliner of its annual Christmas Day slate but stressed that nothing is likely to be made official before next week, when the league ‎is expected to release the new schedule in full.

The Warriors have participated in Christmas Day play the last two seasons, going against the Los Angeles Clippers in both 2013 and 2014. Cleveland played in their first Christmas Day game since 2009 this past season, dropping what proved to be an entertaining game to the Heat on the road.

Golden State dispatched of Cleveland in six games in the NBA Finals, with injuries to stars Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love ultimately derailing their title hopes. A fully healthy Cavaliers team was certainly capable of capturing the crown, and they’ll look to prove that they’re worthy of the championship hubbub when they march into Oracle on Christmas Day.
