NBA 2K or NBA Live?

Decisions, decisions.

That’s literally the epitome of standing at the counter at your cell phone carrier store and deciding whether to become team iPhone or team Android.

If you’re tardy to the party, EA Sports’ Live 19 releases this Friday and 2K Sports’ NBA 2K19 hits stores on Monday. Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid dons the cover of Live 19, while Sixers point guard, Ben Simmons graces the cover as the first ever Australian to be on the cover of the game.

Trusted video expert and Forbes magazine scribe, Brian Mazique checked in with Scoop B Radio and shared his insight on the new details of NBA Live 19. You can listen to the whole interview here or by clicking play above.

Below is a brief Q&A of what he discussed.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: You mentioned that basketball has crossed so many different borders and genres. But can you tell me a little bit about NBA Live?

Brian Mazique: Basically they just have a mode that is similar to my career mode in 2K; it’s called “The One.” So basically it’s the same concept. But EA has been ahead of all the other sports games because of putting women in their games. It started with FIFA about 3 years ago, when they had the all-women’s international team. And last year with NBA Live, they had the WNBA teams. They were doing something that nobody else had ever done. Now they’re taking it a step further by letting you create a female character.

NBA 2K’s Ronnie 2K discusses NBA 2K19’s ratings on Scoop B Radio:

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: I like that. Do you think that 2k is going to do something like that next year?

Brian Mazique: I do. I think at some point, everybody will have to do that because it’s going to be considered the norm.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Yeah, look at the WWE, they have that all women’s pay per view.

Brian Mazique: Yeah, it’s called Evolution, the all women’s WWE pay-per-view is call evolution.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: What do you think people will expect from NBA LIVE 19?

Brian Mazique: I think that NBA Live is trying to improve their visuals. Remember at one point, NBA Live was the top basketball video game” They have to work on things from a gameplay standpoint. Also, their body types may not be as realistic as you want.

Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson: Do you think in our lifetime that NBA LIVE would be above 2k?

Brian Mazique: Anything is possible. But there is a large gap. 2K is more of a deeper game. There are like seven game modes in one. Each fan can just be fulfilled by playing just one mode and NBA Live does not have that. Also, NBA Live 19 is trying to put their foundation together.
