Wizards-Hawks Game 3 Recap

“Did you call bank?”

“I called game!”

Paul Pierce always likes to make things interesting. Whether it’s trash talking, interviews, or big shots, Pierce will make it interesting. He even made the press conference interesting as well.

When Schroder called Pierce’s shot “lucky,” Pierce retorted by saying he’s too young to have seen what he’s done in his career. He also joked and said that Schroder must have missed a shot in 2k while using Pierce.

This game was all about the Wizards though. Washington was in control of the game early and they even pulled ahead by 20 at one point in the fourth quarter. Yes, it was surprising. John Wall was on the bench acting as a cheerleader and his team was up on the number one seed team by 20 points. They were rolling, and out-hustling the Hawks on both ends of the court.

Atlanta looked like they couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn in the first half of the game. They were an ice cold 39% from the floor after the first half. Millsap had flu like symptoms and Horford left the game in the fourth quarter. Hold it right there. This game wasn’t going to be a blow out if the Hawks’ bench had anything to do with this. They came up huge in the fourth quarter and came roaring back to tie the game up.

As I said before though, Paul Pierce likes to make things interesting. He fell hard in the early goings of the game, but to the Hawks dismay, it wasn’t enough to keep him out of the game. Coach Wittman decided to go with an iso play to Paul Pierce in the closing seconds of the game. Schroder had to switch on to Pierce and as time expired he banked in a fall away jumper over top of Schroder and two help defenders.

So, the moral of the story is that you don’t need to call bank. Just call game.
