This summer, Rajon Rondo signed with Los Angeles and will take his talents to the Lakers this fall.

He’ll team with some guy named LeBron James and a supporting cast that includes Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Lance Stephenson.

Rondo  is no stranger to playing with stars. He was part of the 2008 Boston Celtics championship team that included Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and was coached by Doc Rivers.

Brian Scalabrine was also on that team and he likes that Rondo is on this year’s Lakers squad.

“I’m really excited for him especially because he’s the smartest player that I’ve ever played with,” Brian  Scalabrine told me on Scoop B Radio.

“And I think LeBron is on that level as well. Both guys are brilliant basketball players and speak the same language so I’m really excited about the two of them hooking up.”

Earlier this summer, New York Knicks forward, Enes Kanter said there are five teams in the NBA, the Lakers, Warriors, Celtics, Sixers that are the NBA’s elite When asked pressed on those comments by Kanter, Scalabrine gave his take. “That’s not really fair though,” he said.

“Look at Utah they’re good, there’s a lot of other good teams. Everything is reciprocal, right now the Warriors are good because they got Kevin Durant. If they didn’t get Kevin Durant it would be a lot more wide open but that’s just the way it goes. I like what they did because they set a standard for what championship level basketball is and everyone’s got to build up to that. Houston is going after them, Boston is going after them, Cleveland tried and I just like the standard that has now been set in the NBA. When people are building teams, they are looking at the Golden State Warriors and saying how can we do that as well.”

Million Dollar question: Can the Lakers beat the Warriors? “You’re not beating them,” said Scalabrine.

“No one is beating them.”
