The guys at Sports Science never cease to amaze me and they hit us with another gem as they analyze the athleticism of Kristaps Porzingis. The 4th pick of the 2015 NBA Draft was someone that many people didn’t know much about. However, once he hit that court and displayed everything he had in his repertoire, he instantly had fans all across the globe.

At 7’3, Kristaps Porzingis is capable of doing things that we’ve never seen a guy that size do. Sports Science checked his agility as he dribble around 3 poles. He completed this task in 2.37 seconds which is right behind some of the quickest guards in league in Isaiah Thomas and D’Angelo Russell who finished it in 2.3 and 2.29 seconds respectively. With a wingspan of 7’3.75″, Sports Science also wanted to see how high Porzingis could get in the air to block a shot. With a maximum touch of 12’2.5″ off the air, that put him at a max vertical of 37.5″ which is about two inches higher than Blake Griffin who has a vertical of 35.5″.

Now we knew Porzingis was athletic but when you put numbers beside it, its amazing to see what he’s capable of. After a very solid rookie season, I’m looking to see how he will improve in this upcoming season with the new look of the New York Knicks. Often players battle a sophomore slump, but I’m looking forward to see how Kristaps Porzingis performs this season.
