These numbers from Russell Westbrook are becoming more and more astronomical. What he’s doing out there on the floor is utterly ridiculous and purely entertaining at the same time. He can’t be stopped and the end result of averaging a triple-double at the conclusion of the season is becoming more of a reality.

Last night Russell Westbrook put on a show and just took whatever the defense gave him. He scored 48 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, and was one assist shy of another triple-double with 9 assists. This 48-point performance put him on a streak of 4 straight 40-point games which hasn’t been done since Kobe Bryant back in 2012. The performance from Westbrook was great but it came with an 111-118 loss.

The Oklahoma City Thunder couldn’t gather enough stops to get ahead of the Suns. Phoenix had 6 players in double-figures which gave them that balance to come out with a win. The Thunder fought late behind a 20-point 4th quarter from Westbrook but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the speed of the Suns.

Despite the loss, one thing you couldn’t question was the effort by Westbrook. There was one play last night that showed why he was one of the best players that we have in the NBA today.

This effort and dedication is what you want from your team leader. This play is just grit and tenacity and something that you can’t teach. It’s either you have it or you don’t and that’s what makes Russell Westbrook so special.
