Stephon Marbury was once one of the top point guards in the NBA. Selected 4th in the 1996 NBA draft, Marbury was a part of arguably the best NBA Draft ever. Growing up in Coney Island, New York, he is known as a New York City legend. Many expected him to follow behind other New York City greats like Kenny Anderson and Mark Jackson. Stephon was a big influence to the hip hop culture and younger players coming up under him. Being an alumni of Abraham Lincoln High School, he was a mentor to younger players coming up in the same area such as Sebastian Telfair and Lance Stephenson.

Marbury was an elite guard in the League. He had quickness and explosiveness that allowed him to get to the basket and finish with the best of them. He also possessed a killer crossover, dropping opponents like flies. Marbury had a flash about him that could not be imitated. His teammates received no look passes that they didn’t even see coming. He was fun to watch and often kept fans in pure excitement.

Stephon Marbury is now lighting up the basketball court in China. He has won 3 championships in 4 years and still has the talent to dominate the court. Even though many expected his career to fall off after leaving the Knicks in 2009, Starbury has flourished in China and the fans have embraced him with open arms.

Here’s a flashback to 2012 when Marbury dropped 52 points, 10 assists and 7 steals vs the Shangxi Highlights.
