A year after reaching the National Championship Game, #7 Wisconsin is headed to the Sweet 16 after a buzzer-beating three-pointer from junior guard Bronson Koenig lifted them 66-63 over the #2 Xavier Musketeers.
Koenig received the inbounds pass, took a dribble to square himself up then launched a tough, fading three-point bomb that was nothing but net as time expired. The look of exasperation on the face of Xavier coach Chris Mack and the joy in which Wisconsin celebrated with is the perfect exemplification of what March Madness is all about: thrilling triumphs and devastating heartbreaks.
Former Wisconsin Badger and current Charlotte Hornets rookie was of course tuned in to watch his alma mater’s quest for an upset bid, and Kaminsky celebrated Koenig’s big shot as only he could.
