According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, guard Alec Burks has agreed to a four-year, $42 million contract extension with the Utah Jazz. Wojnarowski also reports that Burks’ new contract includes incentives that could push his deal to $45 million.

Burks had until midnight tonight to reach an agreement with the Jazz, as today is the last day players from the 2011 draft class can negotiate an extension with their respective teams. If Burks failed to ink an extension with the Jazz, he would’ve become a restricted free agent in the summer of 2015.

The Jazz have now locked up their young core of the future, agreeing to four-year extensions with Burks, Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors all in the past several months. Utah was hoping to re-sign big man Enes Kanter, but extension talks between the two parties ended on Wednesday. Kanter will enter restricted free agency next summer.

Alec Burks, 23, has averaged 16.5 points in Utah’s first two games of the season. He was selected by the Jazz with the 12th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft.
