Last week, Dwyane Wade expressed interest in bringing back and owning the Seattle SuperSonics.

As per Sports Illustrated Charlotte Carroll, the 12-time All-Star and three-time NBA champion wants to bring Seattle’s team back.

“I want Seattle’s team, the Sonics, to come back,” Wade told Bloomberg’s Joel Weber.

The Sonics  relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008 and became the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Wade, 36, indicated that Magic Johnson was his blueprint for entrepreneurial success and he’d like to own his own team like Johnson has done with stakes in the both the Los Angeles Lakers and Major League Baseball’s Los Angeles Dodgers.

“I think Seattle is a great basketball town. I would love to be a part of that,” said Wade.

Well, Wade isn’t the only hooper with ownership dreams.

Add former NBA Slam Dunk Champion, Nate Robinson to that list.

Robinson, a Seattle native who is currently playing in Ice Cube’s Big3 league, says that the time is now for Seattle to have another NBA team. “I want to play for Seattle,” Nate Robinson told RESPECT Magazine’s Landon Buford.

“After I played, then I would like to own interest in the team.”

Seattle hasn’t had a professional hoops team to call their own for ten years!

Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp, Detlef Schrempf, Lenny Wilkens, Ray Allen, Xavier McDaniel, Slick Watts and Jack Sikma are Seattle Supersonics royalty.

By the way, you do know that Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were once members of the Sonics, right?

I want to show what I can offer as an owner and what we expect in our players while giving an opportunity for someone like myself that is hungry and wants to play hard,” Nate Robinson also told Buford.

“I want to be a part of building and developing a winning culture.”

Nate Robinson isn’t the only hooper with Seattle Sonics dreams. On the Scoop B Radio Podcast last month, NBA Hall of Famer, Spencer Haywood who played for the Sonics from 1970-1975 had similar thinking.

“We desperately need a team there,” Spencer Haywood told me on Scoop B Radio.

“I was there from the beginning when Seattle was very new and everything started in 1967 and I got there in 1970 and what happened was people in Seattle because they are the highest educated group there in Seattle they became very analytical instead of thinking with emotion they keep messing up on getting a new arena. They have the money to do it and the NBA wants to put a team back there and we keep scrumming around over little things and we got to pull the strings and make it happen.”

Nate Robinson is having an excellent start to his summer, he’ll make his Hollywood debut today in Kyrie Irving’s Uncle Drew movie. The film’s star-studded cast includes Tiffany Haddish, Reggie Miller, Lisa Leslie, Chris Webber and Shaquille O’Neal.
