Ty Lawson, point guard for the Denver Nuggets, was reportedly arrested early Friday morning due to suspicion of a DUI. Lawson had told the police that he consumed alcoholic drinks before getting behind the wheel.
KUSA-TV’s Blair Shiff reported that Lawson was pulled over around 1 A.M. for going 61 mph in a 35-mph zone. The arresting officer said that Lawson was slurring his words and his eyes were bloodshot. Via Shiff:
He consented to a field sobriety test, which he failed according to the officer. He refused a chemical test.
After being taken to DDC DUI Room, Lawson reportedly admitted to an officer that he had a previous DUI in Missouri.

This would be Ty Lawson’s second arrest for a DUI, so it’s tough to predict what kind of discipline he’ll receive from the Nuggets or the NBA. In his sixth year with the Nuggets, Lawson is averaging 16.7 points per game to go along with 9.9 assists per game. He’s been having one of his best seasons so far in his career, so it would be a shame if he ruined it with this mistake. This only raises the question, with all the money he makes, why couldn’t he just call a cab or use Uber?
