Tracy McGrady believes Carmelo Anthony should retire from the NBA.

The Houston Rockets are expected to part ways with Anthony soon. Although Anthony has remained eager to play and try to contribute to the Rockets, Houston doesn’t believe they can make it work.

McGrady says Anthony’s last couple of years in the NBA are making people forget that Melo has had a Hall of Fame career. Anthony’s last days with the Knicks were filled with drama and dysfunction, his lone season with the Thunder was a disappointment, and his short stint with the Rockets this year has been, to put it kindly, a disaster.

Anthony has been a negative to the Rockets when he’s been on the floor. Houston has a net rating of minus-9.0 with Anthony on the court and minus-0.2 with him on the bench, per NBA.com. Anthony is averaging 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game this season while shooting 40.5 percent from the field and 32.8 percent from beyond the arc in the 10 games he’s played in.

If/when the Rockets waive Melo, will there really not be another team to give him one more chance? Only time will tell, but it doesn’t look good for Anthony. The Lakers, Clippers and Pelicans won’t have interest in Anthony should he enter the open market.
