The Toronto Raptors have agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract with veteran big man Luis Scola, who played for the Indiana Pacers last season. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports along with Scola himself broke the news of the deal.

Scola won’t post gaudy numbers for the Raptors, but he’ll provide them with a dependable veteran presence that can give them some much-needed assistance defensively and at power forward with Amir Johnson darting for Boston

Scola averaged 9.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this past season for the Pacers, and he along with new Raptors teammates DeMarre Carroll and Cory Joseph will look to instill some new defensive principles in Toronto as their issues on that end of the floor ultimately served as their undoing in the playoffs.
