Welcome to The Passing Game, where we simply take the time to glorify the dimes being thrown all around us.
Here were some noteworthy dimes from Tuesday night’s action of basketball.
Here’s to the first college player being featured on the passing game. Kentucky freshman (and fellow Jersey guard) Isaiah Briscoe recognized a numbers advantage by the time he reached half court. He aired a perfect lob for a streaking Marcus Lee.
John Wall is becoming a series regular here. In this situation he was baited, and I’ll even say poorly defended by Greg Monroe, who was guarding Wall’s screener, Marcin Gortat. Monroe showed out too high and wide, leaving slip space for Gortat and a crease for Wall to zip a lead bounce pass for an open dunk.
What’s great about this lob from Steph Curry to Festus Ezeli is Jonas Valanciunas had no way of stopping it. His attention was focused on Curry coming off of the loop, which was probably by design, that he couldn’t possibly be able to recover and challenge a lob pass to Ezeli. Curry took full advantage of Valanciunas’ lack of athleticism on this read, and the float pass was right on the dime.
