Arron Afflalo

Arron Afflalo isn’t the ‘superstar’ name that Knicks fans were looking for, but he’s certainly a piece that they need. A solid guard that has been in the league for sometime, Afflalo has come to an agreement with New York to sign for two years, with an option on the second year.

Afflalo is coming into his ninth year in the league and even though he didn’t quite have the season he wished to have last season, he can still play and serve as a key player alongside Carmelo Anthony. He was a backup to Wesley Matthews in Portland last season, until Matthews suffered an achilles injury. Arron is a knock down outside shooter that can get buckets in bunches. He averaged 18 points a game just two years ago with the Denver Nuggets and served as an anchor on the defensive end.

The Knicks desperately needed this and Afflalo was the right choice. They are slim when it comes to guards, giving up Prigioni last season and trading away Tim Hardaway Jr on draft day. This is a guy that can play now and can help out on both sides of the ball. A good sign for the Knicks, that can hopefully help persuade free agent, Greg Monroe in also joining the team.
