The Phoenix Suns have been active in attempting to trade for an established point guard and are interested in Patrick Beverley, Cory Joseph and Spencer Dinwiddie — according to 98.7 FM Arizona Sports Station’s John Gambadoro.

The Suns traded Brandon Knight to the Houston Rockets in a deal that brought Ryan Anderson to Phoenix. As a result, the team needs a point guard in the worst way.

Beverley averaged 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 40.3 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from three in his first season with the Los Angeles Clippers last year. He only played in 11 games due to a right knee injury. The Chicago native had microfracture surgery as well as meniscus surgery, but is 100 percent now.

Regarded by many as one of the best one-on-one defenders in the league, Beverley has one non-guaranteed year remaining on his deal at a little over $5 million.

Joseph has one-year left on his contract and will make $7.9 million this season with the Indiana Pacers. The seven-year veteran played in 82 games in 2017-18 and averaged 7.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. The Pacers drafted former UCLA point guard Aaron Holiday in the first-round of the 2018 NBA Draft and also have Darren Collison on the roster. Playing time for Joseph may be hard to come by.

Dinwiddie is the cheapest option for the Suns. He is owed $1.7 million and is one of the most underrated players in the league. In 80 games with the Brooklyn Nets last season, Dinwiddie averaged 12.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 6.6 assists. The 25-year-old shot 38.7 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from beyond the arc.

The Suns have also previously discussed Damian Lillard, Kemba Walker and Terry Rozier.
