The Breakdown:

Devin Booker had one of the best performances last year posting an obscene 70 points in a single game. We all remember that game against the Boston Celtics and it was one that we will never forget. Still, while the feat was extremely impressive, Devin Booker did not prove enough to us last year to influence us to put him any higher than 45 on our list.

Booker is a high volume scorer and has proved to be a very solid shooter. The problem is that Book was only that great of a shooter when he was able to create for himself. He posted an unimpressive 35.5 3P% on catch and shoot opportunities. What this shows me is that he isn’t as good of a scorer without the ball. Devin Booker, at this stage, is not good enough to be the best player on a playoff team which means that he has to be able to be more effective off the ball then he currently is.

The biggest weakness in Booker’s game is his defense, without question. Of the players with 2000+ MIN, only 3 players had a worse DBPM then Devin Booker. Book is an undersized two guard who can easily be unmatched by his stronger and bigger assignment.

Even with all of the negatives that have been mentioned, Devin Booker is still a very talented offensive player and only 20 years old! When he’s hot, he is almost impossible to stop. He can create off the dribble, finish strong at the rim, and make clutch shots.

This was just the 2nd season of his career for Devin Booker. He’ll continue to improve and put a bigger emphasis on his defense that should move his name up this list by this time next year.
