The Breakdown

Kristaps Porziņģis comes in on the Basketball Society’s Top 50 at Number 38. Outside of Carmelo Anthony he is and will be the face of the New York Knicks. He is the lone move that Phil Jackson made that was successful for the Knicks.

Porziņģis is a rare breed, a unicorn as they call him. A seven footer who has developed an outside shot, can move with and guard anyone on the defensive side of the ball. He is one of the best shot blockers in the league. He is one of the top three best young big guys this league has. He is with the ranks of KAT and Joel Embiid.

You can see in this clip from the past season that Porziņģis utilizes all of the repertoire of his skill set that I mentioned including seven blocks and outside shooting.
At the end of the day, Porziņģis has some maturing to do, however, I believe with the inevitable trade of Carmelo Anthony and Phil Jackson no longer being a part of the organization will force him to become the guy. The lights shine the brightest in New York and he will be looked upon to be the guy to mentor and lead the team. He will endure a tough time in the coming seasons but if he continues to bulk up like he has in this offseason I believe that Porziņģis can be much much higher on our Top 50 in a few years.
Porziņģis has top 15 potential. Heard it here first.
