NBA Player Comparison: James Harden

Justise Winslow is a bad man. During the tournament and throughout the season, Winslow had been a menace defensively and in late game situations offensively. You don’t often see the incredible offense and tenacious defense from a highly touted prospect going into the draft, but Winslow is one player who prides himself on his play at both ends.

Justise is no doubt the most gifted small forward in this draft. It will be interesting to see if the NBA team he lands on will work him at the 2 or the 3. He is a bit small for a small forward as today we are seeing more and more small forwards in the 6-8 range. Nevertheless, Winslow will find a spot on an NBA team. When you watch Justise play, you can see how ready he is for the NBA.

If you watch his offensive game, even for a short time, you will see an obvious resemblance to James Harden. Yes, they both are lefties, but it goes deeper than that. Winslow drives the ball with the same aggression as Harden does, and like Harden, he is smart about it. You will see Justise going towards the contact to try to get a call and the bucket. He just needs to work on his free throws. Winslow also does not shy away from big moments. He is one of the best shooters from deep in the draft while eclipsing the 40% mark from 3 point range during the season. If Winslow can continue to master his offensive game, especially his handles, AND keeps displaying the hard body defense we saw from him every night, Justise Winslow can become one of the next great players we have in this league.
