We knew coming into this season that the Oklahoma City Thunder would go as far as Russell Westbrook could take them. And for them to be successful, that would mean that he would pretty much have to do everything. Last night was one of those nights where Westbrook did everything but unfortunately it didn’t translate to a win.

Russell Westbrook had 41 points, 16 assists, and 12 rebounds in a 117-119 loss to the Orlando Magic. This was Westbrook’s 3rd triple-double this season and 40th of his career. It was a very efficient night for the dynamic point guard as he was 14-21 from the field. Westbrook picked his spots and basically did whatever he wanted out there on the floor. The Oklahoma City Thunder had a chance to take a lead late in the game but Russell missed a very makeable pull-up jumper that was going down all night.

The Orlando Magic got the ball with 11 seconds left and their leading man of the night, Serge Ibaka delivered with the game-winning jumper. Ibaka was the spoiler to Westbrook’s fantastic night as he put up a career high, 31 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks. This was his first return to OKC after being traded this off-season and hitting the game winner made the night even more enjoyable.

“I’m not going to lie to you, it feels good,”

Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka put up great stand-out performances but Serge and the Orlando Magic got the upper hand in this head to head battle.
