The Golden State Warriors are off to a roaring 11-0 start this season, their average margin of victory is 16.3 points per contest and Stephen Curry is playing the game of basketball at an almost unsustainable level.

With this great success comes inquiries, with the most common one currently being: “Can Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors match, or even exceed the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls’ regular season record of 72-10?”

Ron Harper, who was Michael Jordan’s backcourt mate on that team and the Bulls’ succeeding championship squads, does not believe Golden State could compete with those historic Chicago team’s of the late 90’s, and he took to Twitter several days ago to voice his opinion.

Harper then proclaimed that the Bulls’ record of 72-10 would actually be 78-4 with the rules and players that make up the Association today.

Whoa! A former NBA-er eluding to the fragility of today’s rules and athletes to illustrate how much “tougher” things were in their era? Say it ain’t so man!

No but in all seriousness, this matchup would be a doozy. We’ve seen Curry make a living out of toying with defenders, but those Bulls teams touted out some of the greatest to ever do it on that end in Scottie Pippen, Michael Jordan and Dennis Rodman. It would be intriguing to see who would elect themselves the “Curry Stopper,” as the ultra-competitive juices would be feverishly flowing.

Draymond Green trash-talking to Rodman would be glorious, and I can easily envision those two getting tangled up under the basket as they prepared to corral a rebound, with one of the two forwards going crashing to the floor.

The most interesting part would be the prospect of two Steve Kerr’s, as not only was he a role player on that Bulls team, but he’s currently the head coach of the Warriors, although Luke Walton is serving in the interim role as Kerr recovers from offseason back surgery. What would Bulls Kerr say to Warriors Kerr? If someone happens to invent a time machine and we are blessed with this matchup, can we mic up those two?

Harper recanted on the sweep theory towards the end of his spiel, saying that Golden State would notch two victories in the fictional series.

What do you think? Would the Bulls sweep the Warriors, or is Harper exaggerating? Vote in the poll below, or hit us on Twitter @BBallSociety_
