Joel Embiid, Jahlil Okafor, Dario Saric, and Nerlens Noel are all healthy and ready to play significant minutes for the 76ers this year. Ben Simmons, as we know, will unfortunately miss some time this year. That does make things a little easier in the front-court.

The odds are that Noel and Okafor will start the season as the starting big men with Saric and Embiid coming off the bench. As the season progresses that could very well change. There is one problem though:

Where does Richaun Holmes fit in??

Richaun Holmes is one of the most entertaining players to watch on this young Sixers team. He crashes the boards with the best of them on both ends and has no quit in him. He’s improving every facet of his game, but the problem as I detailed is that the Sixers already have too many big men.

Richaun Holmes has had a fantastic preseason thus far. He’s averaging 16.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game on 65.5% shooting from the field and 92% shooting from the line over the three game span. I get that these stats are just from preseason, but he’s shown for the entirety of his career that he can be a valuable asset on the team.

Nerlens Noel has stated that he’s dissatisfied with the current situation that the 76ers are in with the plethora of big men they currently have. If the 76ers decide to deal one of the big men they have, that could create an opening for Richaun Holmes in the rotation. But, for now, it doesn’t seem like there’s room for him.

If Holmes continues his great play into the regular season, the 76ers are going to be forced to make a choice. They’ll have to either trade him or trade one of the other big men to get him space in the rotation as I’ve said. He’s too good to leave on the bench and the team will need to do something soon.
