It was a wild day in Minnesota Wednesday. Jimmy Butler returned to the practice floor, and let’s just say he made his presence felt in a variety of ways.

During the team scrimmage, Butler didn’t play with the starters. The four-time All-Star played with the bench because he wanted to go against Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, the two players he has the biggest issues with in Minnesota. Butler went out of his way to challenge Towns and Wiggins.

At one point during the heated scrimmage at Timberwolves’ practice Wednesday, Towns tried to post up Butler, and let’s just say things didn’t go too well for Towns. According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Butler stopped Towns in the post and talked some smack as well.

“At one point, Butler found himself guarding Towns in the post, and when the big man received the entry pass, Butler yelled, ‘He can’t do [expletive] against me!’ and Towns ended up kicking the ball out, league sources said.”

The relationship between Jimmy Butler and Towns has been well-documented. Butler has reportedly got sick of the nonchalant attitude of Towns last season and doesn’t respect his work ethic. Butler averaged 22.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game last season, shooting 47.4 percent from the field and 35.0 percent from beyond the arc.

During an interview with ESPN’s Rachel Nichols, Butler told his side of the story, saying Towns wanted no part of him.

“KAT came at me,” Butler said. “I went up in practice and he said, ‘Anybody can get this work.’ I said, ‘Do it to me.’ That’s all that I said. I said, ‘Every time I get switched onto you, you pass it.’ I’m a competitor. I’m in here talking, come at me. If you score on me, imma tap you on your butt. Good move. You got the best of me.”

Butler also lashed out at Timberwolves general manager Scott Layden.
