It’s always an amazing feeling when you receive acknowledgment from those that you look up to. Especially when it comes from someone who’s one of the best to ever do it. During an episode of ESPN’s First Take, one of the greatest shooters ever in Ray Allen told the world who he believes the greatest shooter is:

“I think right now, from what I’ve seen, it’s easy for me to say that he’s the best that I’ve ever seen shoot,” Allen said, when asked where the Golden State point guard ranks among his all-time best shooters.

Allen continued, mentioning how the game changes from generation to generation, adding, “I really put him in a category all of his own, because the way he plays the game, as a point guard that can handle the way he handles the ball, and the way he can shoot the ball.”

Those are strong words from arguably the greatest shooter to ever play the game. But this isn’t the first time we’ve heard praise from Allen on Curry. Just about a year ago, Ray Allen raved about the young phenom stating:

He’s on his way to being the best ever.

Well I guess Allen has seen enough to change his mind. Giving Stephen Curry the honors of being the greatest shooter ever is very high praise and I don’t think many people would dispute that statement. What we’ve seen Curry do with the ball, especially in these last three years has been something special. No one since Ray Allen has been as automatic as Curry has. The arc, the quick release, and all the mechanics Curry possesses is what you want in a shooter and his numbers back his argument. He has the record for the most 3-pointers made in a season and he’s slowly creeping up the all-time 3-pointers made list as he has just cracked the top ten with 1855 3-pointers made.

Stephen Curry
Steph Curry is a three-point assassin.

Despite his current struggles, you still have to play him honest and that’s all credited to how great his shot is. Being able to ignore all the physicality and run off screens to get his shot off as well as being able to do the same thing with his dribbling is something we’ve never seen. Although we will always remember Ray Allen has one of the best shooters to ever play, I think its time that we give Stephen Curry the crown that he deserves.
