i-3Patrick Beverley is not likely to return during the Western Conference Finals.

Houston Rockets defensive stalwart Patrick Beverley has been sidelined since March due to left wrist surgery, and it was anticipated that Beverley’s recovery time would be four months. However as the Rockets gear up to square off against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference Finals, Beverley is slated to get his cast removed and there are whispers of a possible playoff return for Beverley. However, Marc Stein and Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com report that Beverley is doubtful to return this series.

Beverley is scheduled to have his cast removed in coming days and says he’s hopeful of being cleared to play, but sources told ES‎PN.com that the Rockets are pessimistic about Beverley healing sufficiently quickly to return in this round against the 67-win Golden State Warriors.

Houston has yet to publicly rule Beverley out, and they probably won’t do so. Expect Rockets head coach Kevin McHale and Beverley to play this pretty close to the chest, as they look to possibly catch Steve Kerr and the Warriors off guard.

Something tells me that after seeing Jason Terry get torched by Stephen Curry (that’s if the Rockets don’t elect to put Trevor Ariza on Curry,) Beverley will be hard-pressed to make a return and try to aid his team in advancing to their first NBA Finals in twenty years. Even if he’s not close to 100%, Beverley will probably give his best-ditch effort to try and convince the training staff that he’s healthy enough to go out there and play, especially when the stakes are this high.

Beverley last played on March 23 against the Indiana Pacers. He averaged 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game this season.
