Welcome back to my continued NBA uniform rankings. So far I have ranked 30-26 and recently 25-21. Today, I will be talking about team uniforms ranked 20-16.

20. Denver Nuggets (Five different sets)

  • Hardwood Classic (white)

Denver had pretty much kept the same home and away uniform since the early 2000’s. The only slight change they did was modify the font on both jerseys as more of an outline. The yellow alternate jersey was added a few years back and I am a fan of it, with the city skyline and number above the team name. The Nuggets last year added a White “Pride” uniform and I have mixed feeling about it. I like the concept of all white with the secondary logo but the logo and number itself just seems small and the sleeves just make it worse. Denver also wore these throwback uniforms to honor the number retirement of Dikembe Mutombo. No word on if these will be worn again, but if it was up to me I’d bring them back in the rotation. The rainbow skyline concept is good to honor past successful Denver teams.

19. Indiana Pacers (Four different sets)

  • Hardwood Classic (red)

Indiana has has kept the same uniforms since the 2005-2006 season. In years past, the team has always kept the same white home, blue away and yellow alternate concept. The jerseys are nice and simple and I have been a fan of these uniforms. Every few years the team adds a different throwback uniform to honor past Pacer eras, which have become fan favorites. The Pacers adopted a new uniform last season and it has a very interesting back-story.

The Pacers red “Hickory” jersey is in collaboration with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM for short) Studios regarding the 1986 motion picture Hoosiers. The Pacers wore these maroon and gold “Hickory” uniforms to honor the movie’s 30th anniversary. The name and colors are of the fictional high school from the film. It is the first time a major North American pro sports team wore a uniform based on a film. The concept of the jersey is really cool. The color combination of the red jersey and gold shorts is not really good, but you can’t complain due to the history behind the uniforms.

18. Phoenix Suns (Six different sets)

  • Home (white)
  • Away (purple)
  • Alternate (black)
  • Flex (orange)
  • Latin Nights (Los Suns purple)
  • Pride (grey sleeved)

Phoenix a few years back went with a complete home and away uniform change and have been adding another uniform ever since (minus this offseason). The concept of the home, away and alternate (thank God they took away the sleeves) uniforms are clean with the team name diagonal with the stripes underneath representing sun rays. I also like the newest black alternate with the PHX on the front. The design looks sleek with the sun rays at the bottom of the shorts. I am a fan of the Latin Nights uniform with the purple background and the “Los Suns” font. The grey pride sleeved jersey just seems bland to me. It is not just the sleeves, but the grey looks boring in the mix with the really small “Phoenix” font.

17. Utah Jazz (Four different sets)

  • Away (blue)
  • Alternate (green)
  • Pride (blue sleeved)

The Utah Jazz re-branded themselves this season with new uniforms, a alight tweak in the logo and a new court design. I have always been a fan of the white, blue and green uniform color for jerseys and this new design is no different. I like the jazz note logo on the front with the teams secondary logo on the waistband, as well as the note logo on the shorts. The team also unveiled a new “pride” uniform that honors the teams original warmup design. That is right, these are honoring old warmups. I am not really a big fan of the uniform. The all blue sleeve concept with the stripe in the middle makes it seem more of a European soccer jersey rather than basketball.

16. Sacramento Kings (Five different sets)

  • Home (white)
  • Away (purple)
  • Alternate (black)
  • Second Alternate (black “SAC”)
  • Hardwood Classic (baby blue)

Every few years, the Sacramento Kings go through slight uniform changes. This past offseason however, they made a complete overhaul. After a few attempts I really think the Kings hit home with these new uniforms. The color combinations of the four new sets are go well together. The grey stripe in the white and purple uniforms look really sharp, as well as the black second alternate uniform. The hardwood baby blue uniforms were introduced last season and the franchise decided to bring them back this year. The light blue concept with the white scripted Kings logo makes these special classic uniforms nice to look at on the court. Yeah the franchise itself is a disaster, but at least there is step in the right direction with the successful re-brand.

Check back next time as I unveil teams #15-11 in my NBA uniform rankings.
