The college basketball season kicked off this past Friday. With a very talented group of freshman starting off their college basketball careers. One player in particular stood out to me, Michigan State University’s Freshman Miles Bridges. Miles is the REAL DEAL. I’ve had a chance to do some scouting on Bridges in the past. Previously seen some film & highlights. Until Friday, I finally got a chance to see Miles in action.

A 6’6, 225 lbs. Forward, Miles has a lot of potential to make a huge impact for the Spartans this season. The guy can do it all! In my opinion, Miles will be one of the best dunkers Michigan State has seen since Jason Richardson or even Kelvin Torbert. He’s strong, athletic, runs the floor well in transition and already has the NBA size for his position. Miles plays with a lot of energy. A lefty with a solid shot, he can take you off the dribble, he can defend and also plays with a competitive edge to his game.

The 12th ranked Spartans loss its season opener 65-63 to the Arizona Wildcats in Honolulu Hawaii. Bridges finished with a team high of 21 points. While scouting, I noticed during the game Bridges was the most effective player on the court for the Spartans. That’s huge for a freshman coming into a powerhouse like Michigan State University. Take your hat off to Coach Tom Izzo for always preparing his players for the big stage.

Miles is going to be around the game of basketball for years to come. I personally have him projected as a first-round draft pick in the 2017 NBA draft.

Areas of improvement:

He needs to become a better rebounder at the collegiate level. Also, utilize attacking the basket a lot more rather than relying on the 3-point shot. Continue to work on finishing at the rim and moving more without the ball. Miles has more than enough time to fix the errors. Again, he’s only a freshman. I’m more than confident coach Izzo will have him ready. Tune in this season! The kid is something special on the court.
