i-2Michael Carter-Williams is happy to be a member of the Milwaukee Bucks.

2014 NBA Rookie of the Year and former Philadelphia Sixers point guard Michael-Carter Williams was sent to the Bucks in a very surprising trade that occurred minutes before last Thursday’s trade deadline. But despite his love for the city of Philadelphia, the former Syracuse Orangeman is not discouraged by the deal at all.

After the Bucks’ 87-71 loss to the Chicago Bulls on Monday, Carter-Williams spoke very highly of Milwaukee, expressing his excitement to be in a winning situation.

“I love it,” Carter-Williams said after the Bucks’ 87-71 loss to the Bulls in Chicago on Monday. “They have a great attitude here and they’re chasing the playoffs. There is a different vibe. These guys are great.”

“It’s different,” he said. “The teams are in different stages. Philly is rebuilding and trying to do it a different way. Here there are some really established players. I’m not knocking one, Philly is just in a different place. Milwaukee is a playoff team and I am just here to try and help.”

Carter Williams averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 assists, 6.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game on 40% shooting during his rookie year in Philly, but he put up these gaudy numbers on a historically bad Sixers team that won 19 games and had 22 different guys suit up for them during the course of the season.

Philadelphia and losing have become synonymous, and it’s recognized by all basketball fans that the Sixers are “tanking” to stockpile draft picks as they look to find the face of their franchise. Carter-Williams however, dismissed those that accused the Sixers of intentionally losing in an interesting piece on the Players’ Tribune.

Despite his disputes, it’s evident that the Sixers currently have no interesting in winning many games, and they traded Carter-Williams for the Lakers top-five protected pick as they continue their hunt for a transcendent player via the draft.

Carter-Williams has yet to play for the Bucks as he’s nursing a sprained right toe, but he’s expected to make his debut on Wednesday against the Sixers. It’ll be interesting to see if MCW is out for revenge, hoping to prove to Philadelphia that they’ll forever rue trading him away.

As for the Bucks, they suddenly have a very talented young core that features Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker and Carter-Willims himself.

Head coach Jason Kidd couldn’t be happier about the talented young trio, and after making the trade to acquire Carter-Williams last week, Kidd said he and his coaching staff want to get the former Sixer to Magic Johnson’s level. Those are incredibly massive and legendary shoes to fill, but it’s good that Kidd has his youngsters striving for greatness.
