When the Dallas Mavericks looked like big winners in free agency, things just took a turn for the worst. At the start of free agency, DeAndre Jordan verbally committed to a 5 yr/$110 million contract with the Dallas Mavericks. Their starting five included Wesley Matthews, who also committed to the Mavericks, Chandler Parsons, Dirk Nowitzki, and Jordan. Jordan made the Mavericks immediate contenders in the Western Conference. But now, Jordan is going back to the Los Angeles Clippers on a 4 yr/$88 million contract with an opt out option after three seasons.

NBA players have until July 9th to officially sign with their new team. The Clippers haven’t stopped with their pursuit for Jordan after his verbal commitment, and their hard work has paid off.

Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, is not happy. He used social media to express his anger.

On Wednesday evening, Clippers starters, head coach Doc Rivers, and owner Steve Ballmer visited Jordan at his house in Houston, TX. They refused to leave until Jordan signed a contract with the Clippers. Paul Pierce, who signed a three year deal with the Clippers this offseason, made it a goal to keep Jordan in LA.

In the meantime, DeAndre Jordan was unresponsive to Mark Cuban and Chandler Parsons on Wednesday evening. Chandler Parsons wasn’t impressed.

This is every NBA teams worst nightmare. The best thing to do now is to move on. The Mavericks also lost Rajon Rondo, Monta Ellis, and Tyson Chandler this offseason. They also don’t own their 2016 first-round pick which was sent to Boston in the deal to acquire Rajon Rondo. Mark Cuban has a lot of work to do before the season starts. Never trust a verbal commitment.
