With Marvin Bagley III reclassifying to the Class of 2017 and committing to Duke, we all know he has been on top of the High School Basketball world. Even with reclassifying, Marvin became the number one recruit for the Class of 2017 beating out Michael Porter Jr. The thing is Marvin isn’t the only one in the family who is talented on the court…his little brother Marcus Bagley is a 6’7″ 210lbs Shooting Guard for the Class of 2020.

Marcus has tremendous size for his age and is only about to begin his sophomore year at Sierra Canyon (CA). His size already allows him to play the 2 and 3. This also allows him to be able to switch off of pick and rolls onto power forwards when need be. Marcus seems to be more of a purer shooter than his brother. His jump shot reminds me a lot of Bradley Beal’s with how smooth of a stroke he has. Marcus played two years up with his brother Marvin with Nike Phamily providing a deep threat for them on the EYBL circuit. During this summer, Marcus averaged 5.5 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, 1.3 assists per game, and 1.1 steals per game.

Marcus seemed to have his best game this Summer against Playaz Club (NJ) with 28 points and 7 rebounds. These are impressive numbers to display while playing two years up on the EYBL circuit, which is arguably the toughest AAU circuit to play in at the moment. With Marcus already being a big guard it allows him to bang down low consistently getting rebounds like his 3.9 rebounds per game this Summer indicated. I only see this number increasing, and don’t be surprised if by the time he is 17 that he is averaging 8-9 rebounds per game as a guard. Marcus also plays the passing lanes very well. He does so within their half court defenses and in transition. With his natural anticipation and long wingspan I see him being a 2-3 steals per game kind of guy.

I should also mention that he is a great athlete like his brother. Marcus has been dunking in games since the 7th grade. He has all the tools to be another big time player within the Bagley family. Paul Biancardi recently released his ESPN Class of 2020 Top 25 and Marcus was not listed. It is clear that he is a Top 100 player for the Class of 2020. I personally thought that Paul Biancardi should of included in him in his most recent Top 25. With his work ethic and the level grounding, the Bagley family provides this will definitely happen in the future.

The scary part to imagine is this kid is still growing. Just beginning his sophomore year in high school at 6’7″ 210lbs, it is not out of the question that by the time he is a senior he could be 6’9″ 230lbs range while being comfortable on the perimeter. A 6’9″ 230lbs Shooting Guard appeals to myself tremendously, especially one who could play Small Forward and the Stretch Forward spot when going small. Marcus is another example of how the game is revolutionizing. Marcus has already received offers from UNLV, Nevada, USC, Pacific, UCLA, Arizona, and Arizona State. It is inevitable that this list will grow tremendously. It will be interesting to see how his game develops over the next three High School Basketball seasons. I expect him to be a big time talent as time goes on. It seems like Marcus wants to solidify his own name in the basketball world. We at Basketball Society will keep you updated with his development.
