Kings owner interested in Chris Mullin as next head coach
The Sacramento Kings are officially in the running for a new head coach after relieving Mike Malone of his duties this week. Malone’s firing has come as a surprise to many as the Kings were still in the beginning phase of perhaps making a competitive turn for the franchise. Names brought up since to fill the Kings head coaching vacancy have been George Karl and Vinny Del Negro, but Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski says Chris Mullin is also high on the list of candidates:
Sacramento owner Vivek Ranadive is very intrigued with coaching candidacy of Chris Mullin, league sources tell Yahoo. Mullin’s a factor.

Kings GM Pete D’Alessandro has apparently been mentored by Mullin, who has also been an advisor to the Kings and has no NBA coaching experience to date. Ty Corbin will serve as interim head coach for now, but you get the sense that Sacramento wants to lock in on their new guy sooner than later.
