SACRAMENTO — Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings didn’t feature any cowbell-clanging or refereeing controversy, but the storied Pacific Division rivalry logged another entertaining chapter, as the Kings pulled away late to end their five-game losing streak.

DeMarcus Cousins had 29 points and 14 boards for Sacramento, helping the Kings to a 108-101 victory — their first in nearly two weeks.

Rudy Gay and Ben McLemore scored 24 and 23, respectively, in what was also Tyrone Corbin’s first win as interim head coach. Corbin took over after last week’s surprise firing of Mike Malone.

As for the “Lake Show,” their afternoon wasn’t so peachy.

Kobe Bryant notched 25 points, but went 8-for-30 from the field with 9 turnovers, and the Lakers squandered a 13-point third-quarter lead. They did reclaim the lead at 89-83 early in the fourth — on a signature Nick Young four-point play — but Cousins and the Kings battled back and executed down the stretch.

Nick Young netted 26 points and 5 rebounds for the lowly Lakers, who have lost six of their last eight games.

Both teams play Golden State next; the Kings on Monday, the Lakers on Tuesday.

CRUNCHTIME

Vlade Divac joined the Kings telecast during the 1st half and said he’s one of the “greatest floppers” of all-time. Byron Scott said he will consider resting Kobe for one or two games, as Kobe has complained of fatigue and general body soreness. This is what Bryant had to say to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports after the game:

“I don’t have much of a choice if the body is feeling the way it’s feeling right now,” Bryant told Yahoo Sports. “You got to be smart. You got to make sure you get enough return on your investment. With the amount of work that I do and put into my body and to get my body ready, for it to be sore as it is right now, sometimes you do have to consider sitting down.

Kobe has committed 22 turnovers in his last 5 games. On the season, the Kings are 2-8 without DeMarcus Cousins and 10-7 when he is in the lineup.
