According to Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti, Thunder center Kendrick Perkins will miss some of OKC’s training camp as he continues to recover from a strained quadricep. Perkins will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Perkins is on the last year of his contract, and the 11 year veteran is slated to make $9.4 million this upcoming season. The offensively challenged Perkins was viewed as a likely candidate to fall victim to the amnesty clause, but Presti has dismissed that notion repeatedly.

Perkins hopes to return from injury immediately and make a significant impact as reserve big man Steven Adams is poised to take his starting spot.

Kendrick Perkins, 29, averaged 3.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game last year for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
