Karl-Anthony Towns

According to Ananth Pandian of CBS Sports, Kentucky big man Karl-Anthony Towns and the New York Knicks could be match made in heaven.

Towns has been consistently touted as a top-5 pick and the Knicks are going to have a top pick. The Knicks obviously need a center, especially one who can change a game. Well, Towns told Marc Berman of the New York Post that he’d love to play in Madison Square Garden.

“If I have the opportunity to ever play for the Knicks, that’s what I would love to do.”

Towns still has his Knicks ballcap in his bedroom in Jersey.

“Yeah, in this area growing up, you don’t have the money to have the NBA League Pass, so you got the local teams,” Towns said. “I always got a chance to watch the MSG channel and watch the Knicks play. I grew up to have a lot of respect for the Knicks.”

This would be a great opportunity for the Knicks. Getting a player who’s projected to be a top big man and a player who wants to play for them is a win-win. The only complication is the fact that the Knicks are thinking about trading their pick if it’s not in the top two. However, since it looks like they can get Greg Monroe and maybe even Demarre Carroll, then Knicks should be trying to make sure they can get Towns. Teaming up Carmelo Anthony, Carroll, Monroe, and Towns would make for a great core group of guys to build around.
