Hill, 27, had his best year as a pro last season averaging a career high 12.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in 26.8 minutes of action. He spent the last four seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was selected 8th overall by the New York Knicks, one spot after Stephen Curry (still hurts as a Knicks fan to this day). After playing only 24 games for New York in his rookie season, he was traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Tracy McGrady. He then spent two more years in Houston before being shipped to the Lakers.
Since Indiana dealt away Roy Hibbert, they have a hole to fill at the center spot. They selected Myles Turner from Texas with the 11th overall pick in this past draft so look for both Hill and Turner to compete for the starting spot. There is a lot of talent with Turner but he is only 19 years old so they might have Jordan Hill start the season at the center position until Turner is ready. Regardless, these players are better upgrades because of their styles of play compared to Hibbert, who struggled last season.
