Jason Terry believes Kawhi Leonard and Klay Thompson are B-Side players

First it was Klay Thompson doesn’t compare to James Harden and now, Kawhi Leonard is getting thrown into the picture as well. Jason Terry, once again, let’s his opinion known about Kawhi Leonard and Klay Thompson (via SiriusXM NBA Radio):

“Let’s get James Harden, move him to the side over here. He’s an A-side performer, right?

Let’s go to the B side. The B-side performers in the NBA. That is Kawhi Leonard and Klay Thompson. Those two right there.

B side is being a support-cast role but not really a bench player. The A Side is your superstar. It is your great player. It is your guy. That’s LeBron James, James Harden, Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry – these guys – Chris Paul.”

I can’t wait for Jason Terry to go up against Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard because they are going to drop so many buckets on him that it’s not going to be funny! To try and downplay the talent of these two guys is uncalled for just because he has admiration for his previous teammate. These two guys are among the best perimeter players in the league along with James Harden and that’s just the bottom line. Just because these guys play amongst other great players doesn’t make them any less of a superstar. With Jason Terry’s logic, does that make Kyrie Irving a “B-Side player” or Kobe Bryant back with the 2000 Los Angeles Lakers team? I don’t think so either.

Both of these players have tremendously risen in the past year. We know what Klay has done and what he can do. He’s a 20+ point scorer a night that’s going to lock up defensively. And when you look at Kawhi, he was the best player on the second best team in the west who might I add, came in 2nd in the MVP voting just last season. Are these guys what James Harden is offensively? No, but when you look at the totality of the game, they’re all at the same level.

I get that Jason Terry loves James Harden and they’re close friends, but to put these players down is unnecessary. Klay Thompson and Kawhi Leonard are in the discussion of the best perimeter players in the NBA and may be better than Harden depending on who you ask and that’s something Jason Terry just has to get over.
