Jason Kidd: Bucks Contacted Ray Allen

Ray Allen, the greatest three-point shooter of all time, has yet to decide whether or not to enter his 19th NBA season or retire as a future Hall of Famer. Allen has been most popularly linked to the Cleveland Cavaliers due to him expressing the desire to continue to play with LeBron James after winning a title with James in Miami in 2012.

While plenty of teams (Spurs, Clippers, Bulls) have reportedly done their own courting of Allen, Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd told Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that they reached out to Allen as well:

Bucks coach Jason Kidd said the team had sincere interest in bringing veteran Ray Allen back to the team during the past summer, but the former Bucks player was not inclined to return.…

“We did contact Ray. He’s weighing his options to see where he wants to go. But we did have interest.…

We thought he would be a good piece for us to try to get but he didn’t have any interest.

Allen of course played six-plus years in Milwaukee and led them to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 2001. Surely Allen would prefer to return to one of the contenders mentioned above, leaving Milwaukee completely out of contention.
