James Harden speaks on Reggie Jackson’s contract scenario in OKC

The Oklahoma City Thunder and now coveted guard Reggie Jackson will be in a familiar situation come next summer. Jackson, who is playing in the last year of his rookie contract, opted not to sign an extension with the Thunder before the season, making him eligible for restricted free agency.

James Harden, who was right in Reggie Jackson’s shoes just several years ago before being traded to the Houston Rockets in free agency, spoke on Jackson’s situation after beating his former team 69-65 on Sunday night.

Via Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman:

I fell into the same situation, and that could have been my only contract And I’m sure Reggie feels the same way. He has to get the money that he’s earned and that he’s worked his whole life for. It’s the nature of the business. It’s going to happen every single year and it’s going to continue to happen.”

With Durant and Westbrook both out Jackson has had more chances to display why he deserves a lucrative contract. The Thunder can match any offer for Jackson, which is to be expected, and they’ll have to be prepared to match some worthwhile offers.
