Whenever people talk about great players, Kobe Bryant has always come up in conversation and it seems like now his storybook career is coming to an end.

From Baxter Holmes of ESPN:

“Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said star guard Kobe Bryant has told the GM that the 2015-16 season will be Bryant’s last with the Lakers.

“He has indicated to me that this is it,” Kupchak said Thursday in a radio appearance with SiriusXM NBA Radio.”

This is definitely sad to hear, not only if you are a Laker fan, but also an NBA fan in general. As most of us know the last couple of years have not been good to Kobe. This past season he tore his rotator cuff and the year before that he tore his achilles. Having two major surgeries like that at age 36 after 19-going-on-20 NBA seasons its going to be hard for him to go back to scoring 25 a night.

However, if you read closely to what Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak that 2015-16 will be the last season Kobe will play for the LAKERS. Now I’m not saying that Kobe would ditch the purple and gold two years from now when his contract is up but most people would say he could play for another team down the road.

To be honest, I do not see that ever happening because Kobe Bryant has been with the team for 20 years, a lot of ups and downs and seeing him in some other uniform would be just weird to see (I mean am I the only one that thinks Brooklyn Nets black and Washington Wizards red/blue was odd on Paul Pierce).

Regardless, Kobe Bryant has not officially announced to the public that next season will be his last but knowing him he’ll work hard this offseason to overcome a torn rotator cuff to end his career on a high note. He did instead take his thoughts to twitter earlier today.

Keep in eye on this story as it could potentially change on what the Lakers plan to do in the offseason.
