This weekend the BIG3 will host the first round of their playoffs in Dallas.

It’s been a successful sophomore season for Ice Cube’s BIG3 league, adding newcomers such as Nate Robinson, Metta World Peace, Baron Davis, Glen “Big Baby” Davis and Amar’e Stoudemire. 21 of the 48 players were new to the BIG3 in 2018.

Ice Cube, Power’s Cuttino Mobley, and 3’s Company coach Michael Cooper joined the Reasonable Doubt podcast to talk playoffs and more. See the full segment below.

Ice Cube talked about the passion that comes with the intent of the BIG3:

A lot of sports have gotten stale. The players are very robotic because they feel like they can’t express themselves. It starts to erode some of the passion. We can’t have that.

He also addressed his thoughts on why the defending champion Trilogy didn’t even make the playoffs this season and talked about the latest on a potential BIG3 video game in the works.

Power co-captain Cuttino Mobley shared his feelings about the BIG3 being a family atmosphere and talked about the dynamic of playing for Nancy Lieberman.

After every single game, people are like surprised that she’s coaching men. Like, women raised us. She played until she was 50, so she knows dedication.

Michael Cooper was named the new head coach of 3’s Company led by Baron Davis when Allen Iverson stepped down. Cooper has a healthy winning background and has a chance to bring that to his first season coaching in the BIG3.

You can catch BIG3 playoff action live on Fox on Friday, August 17 at 8 PM ET.
