The race for a playoff spot in the Western Conference is anything but lopsided. So far, the Rockets have added Corey Brewer and Josh Smith, along with Dallas and Oklahoma City adding the likes of Rajon Rondo and Dion Waiters.

This season, the Grizzlies are finally breaking through the mediocrity slump they’ve had for the past six to seven years or so. With a record of 25-10, the Grizzlies are looking at the top seed in the playoffs. They could see  improvement to their roster within the next couple days, as trade talks have arise between Memphis and the likes of Luol Deng, and Jeff Green. This is an excerpt from ESPN’s Marc Stein, talking about the trade deals:

“It is not immediately known how willing Miami would be to trade Deng, who is not yet even halfway through his first season of the two-year, $19.9 million contract he received from the Heat in the wake of LeBron James‘ return to Cleveland via free agency….

Green, meanwhile, is widely believed to be available leading into the deadline in the wake of Boston’s deal to send Rondo to Dallas last month. Although Green told local reporters last week on the eve of Rondo’s first game at TD Garden as a visiting player that he doesn’t “want to know how that feels because I don’t want to be traded.”

Any Grizzlies offer for Deng or Green is likely to feature the $7.7 million expiring contract of Tayshaun Prince as well as the promise of future draft compensation.”

Either one of these stars would be a huge asset to the Memphis roster. Deng is averaging 14.3 ppg while averaging 58.7 pct from the field and 36.3 pct from three. Green is averaging 17.9 ppg in Boston while averaging just about 54 pct from the field.
