San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich will miss the next two games due to a family medical situation, according to ESPN.com.

ESPN’s Michael C. Wright wrote,

A source with knowledge of the situation said Popovich and his family are fine and that there are no medical emergencies or major issues.

That is great news knowing Popovich will not be out for an extended period of time. Assistant coach Ettore Messina will take head coaching responsibilities.

San Antonio is 14-1 since the start of 2016. They have also won 30 consecutive home games.

The next two games without Popovich are in Indiana and Minnesota, respectively. He is expected back Thursday night against the Chicago Bulls.

Indiana and Minnesota have not beaten San Antonio this season. Those scores were,

Dec. 21, 2015, Pacers vs. Spurs 106-92

Dec. 23, 2015, Spurs @ Timberwolves 108-83

Dec. 28, 2015, Timberwolves vs. Spurs 101-95

San Antonio sits 2.5 games behind the Golden State for the NBA’s best record and first in the Western Conference.
