Game of the Night Preview

There’s another massive slate of games tonight including the sure to be exciting Rockets vs. Warriors previewed by our very own Martin Soares. Also among the twelve games tonight is an important game in the long run (the long long run). The Houston, Golden State game may affect playoff seeding in the West, but the outcome of the Sixers, Knicks game will have much more significance in the race to the bottom. So the Game of the Night is…….

For a team that many considered to be the worst team ever put on the hard court at the start of the year, the Sixers (8-33) aren’t even the worst this season. That honor goes to the (6-36) New York Knicks who would do well with a loss tonight to put themselves at greater distance from the team that has the best chance to beat the Knicks for the worst record in the league and a 25% chance at the 1st pick in the draft.

The 76ers will come out with a hungry young team with the likes of Nerlens Noel, MCW, Tony Wroten, and KJ McDaniels. Despite how devoid of talent this team is and their tendency to turn the ball over this team tries hard every game to win. The Knicks on the other hand have been stripped bare in the hopes of losing as many games as possible, not the usual Phil Jackson approach. The Knicks are coming off a win that ended a 16 game skid that threatened to put them in the history books if it continued much longer. The Knicks will send out one of the saddest collection of players I’ve seen in a while. Last game these players played more than 24 minutes: Lou Admunson, Jason Smith (38 mins!), a banged-up Carmelo Anthony, and Langston Galloway. If you haven’t heard of some of them I don’t blame you. This team was built to lose and is the first team the Sixers have been favored against this season. Tonight’s winner will most likely be the loser and it’s probably the most important game this NBA season so far for all the wrong reasons.

My Prediction: Sixers 90, Knicks 85
