What does the future hold for the Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls do not look like a team that’s trying to make a playoff push. They are 9th in the Eastern Conference with a 36-36 record, 2 games behind the Detroit Pistons. Their play as of late has looked uninspired and just very bad. They’ve lost three in a row, including two losses to the New York Knicks and one loss to the Orlando Magic, both teams that they are capable of beating. The effort and motivation just isn’t there, which leads me to believe that the Bulls miss two guys who provided just that: Tom Thibodeau and Joakim Noah.

But with that being said, where do they go from here? The 8th seed is getting further away and with only ten games left, they would need to win as many games as possible and hope for some Detroit losses on the way. Their schedule doesn’t get any easier. Six of their last ten games are against teams that have a record greater than .500.

Chicago's Schedule

Going forward, Chicago’s management has to answer some questions about how they will progress and what their identity will be. Joakim Noah was the team’s heart and soul in previous years but they pretty much pushed him away before his season-ending injury, so the likes of him re-signing is slim. Derrick Rose has been their franchise player but with consistent injuries, his play hasn’t really been what it was, so do they trade him or hang on, hoping that he returns to that MVP level? With so much inconsistent play and problems circulating around this team, these are the type of questions that they need to ask themselves as the post-season is approaching. Changes need to be made because this group that they currently have, has not gotten the job done. They have some solid young guys as well as some pieces that could be very valuable in the trade market. Let’s see how they use them going forward because this off-season can be huge turning point for their franchise, if they play their cards right.
