Fred Hoiberg doesn’t anticipate Bulls making a trade

It’s deliberation season as the Feb. 18 trade deadline approaches, and the Chicago Bulls have been a popular subject in potential trade happenings. At one point the Bulls were reportedly fielding trade calls for Taj Gibson and Joakim Noah, and even Pau Gasol.

But Noah is out for the season after shoulder surgery and Nikola Mirotic is now out for several weeks after an appendectomy, lessening that crowded front court rotation as well as Chicago’s potential assets in a deal.

Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg doesn’t see the team making a move, via K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune:

Mike Dunleavy (back) will spend time with the Bulls’ D-League team and could return to the lineup before the All-Star break. Dunleavy doesn’t single-handedly make up for Mirotic and Noah, but he gives Hoiberg a needed floor spacer and a high-IQ veteran to help with depth.

Hoiberg knows he has a group that can compete with anyone (they won in Cleveland a week ago) but lately they’ve struggled to play well consistently (Clippers smacked them today 120-93). Still, as Hoiberg mentioned, given their current status, the Bulls will only look to entertain trade options if something drastic occurs in the next couple of weeks.
