By now, we all know that Isaiah Thomas has been dealt to the Cleveland Cavaliers along with a package of players and a pick for Kyrie Irving. Isaiah Thomas never asked for this trade and he never went to the Celtics front office saying that he was unhappy with the team. However, a select few fans of the Celtics decided to burn his jersey as if he left his hometown team and spit on their name.
Let me start by saying, even if a player does leave in free agency, jersey burning is dumb. The whole concept of it does nothing except cost you more money in the long run. It doesn’t hurt anyone and it doesn’t “send a message” to the front office. This time around, even other NBA players stepped in and gave their thoughts on people burning Isaiah Thomas’ jersey.
