Monroe Douglass Jr. joins The Fadeaway this week! He is an assistant coach at one of the premier high school programs in the country, Chaminade High School, in St. Louis. He has coached and played with some great basketball players highlighted by Jayson Tatum.
Douglass and Ryan discuss Chaminade hoops, Tatum’s rise to stardom and his unlimited potential, Douglass’ relationship with David Lee, the Beal family, Drew Hanlen and many more in the St. Loius basketball scene.
Douglass believes that Tatum can be the subject of “one of those barbershop debates” on who are some of the greatest players of all-time. He says that as a freshman in high school he knew that Tatum was something special and although he says he can’t see into the future, Tatum’s success in the NBA is not surprising to him at all.
Calpin also asks Douglass about the friendly competition at Patrick McCaw’s Pro-Am this past weekend after a video surfaced of Tatum giving his opponent buckets and offering up some friendly trash talk.
Ryan also breaks down the blockbuster trade that went down in the NBA between the Toronto Raptors and the San Antonio Spurs.
Do not miss it!
