The Toronto Raptors this season looked like they were going to compete in the playoffs and make a deep run. Instead, they ended up getting swept by the Washington Wizards in the first round of the playoffs.

General Manager Masai Ujiri will look to tweak or possibly re-build the franchise, and it could start with a new head man on the sidelines. (Via Ryan Volstat of the Toronto Sun):

No sure what is going to happen with the Raptors for a while but from the looks of it, it’ll be a very crucial offseason as they try add that one piece (or multiple pieces) to the puzzle that’ll bring them to the top. It could be a free agent, a person they bring in through the draft or even a new coach. Here is what Mark Stein of ESPN heard about the situation:

Initial indications, though, suggest that Casey will indeed be back next season, according to the latest whispers on the Toronto grapevine….

The Raptors, for all their undeniable financial resources, also happen to be investing in a new practice facility, as well as their own D-League franchise, and presumably would not love the idea of absorbing the remaining money on the coach’s contract if there was a sudden clamor to make a change.

There will be a lot of turnover in Toronto. They need to build around All-Stars Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozen. Look for them to add a rebounding big man, which they stuggled in last season (tied for 19th with 49.5) or possibly a wing defender. Overall, they need depth because injuries and foul trouble were huge for them this season and in the playoffs. Look for every one on the Raptors roster to be subject to trade talks with Casey already being on the hot seat despite the offseason not even starting.
