Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors finally came to a deal yesterday that ended with Green signing for five years. After news broke yesterday that ‘talks broke down’ between the two parties, social media went into a frenzy and Warriors fans were worried about Green possibly leaving. However, we all knew that there was no way that Golden State could let him go after the season he just had.

Draymond had an undoubtedly outstanding season. He ended 2nd in the Defensive Player of the Year race and was also on the 1st All-Defensive Team. He averaged 11.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game for the season but what meant most were the things he did, that didn’t show up on the stat sheet. He is the heart and soul of that Warriors team and he meant so much in that Championship run.

His contract is well deserved, and he took to Instagram to show his appreciation and what it meant to him and his mom.

The Golden State Warriors have a crew that will be around for a while. This core of young guys can continue to make noise for the next few years but down the road, management will have to find ways to pay everyone to keep this group together.
