Orlando Magic center Nikola Vucevic is averaging 18.8 points and 11.9 rebounds per game so far this season. He’s been earning more clout as a legitimate double-double threat in the league on a Magic team still searching for relevancy.

Orlando faced the LA Clippers on Wednesday night and lost 114-90. Vucevic finished with 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Clippers head coach Doc Rivers is on notice when it comes to Vucevic’s game, via John Denton of the Magic’s official site:

Vucevic is an All-Star and a terrific player. He’s probably the best player in the league that nobody knows. I don’t think you hear anybody talking about him, but when you look at his raw numbers they are superstar and all-star worthy, but nobody knows it.

The league is seeing more big men come into their own and Vucevic is definitely one still flying under the radar. He might have to boost up to a 20 and 15 average for an All-Star appearance to be official, especially given the crop of forwards/center in the East that would be recognized and considered over him – Joakim and Pau, Al Jefferson, Kevin Love, Carmelo Anthony, Paul Millsap, and Chris Bosh to name several.

Vucevic has certainly exceeded any conventional “solid” labels, but reaching the all-star pedestal might still be a little past his reach.
